Ventura Bobcats 2005-2006

Undefeated High School Super League Champions

(recovered photos now in the Photo Gallery)

We have uncovered lost photos of the Ventura Bobcats tournament championship win at Ventura college on March 7, 2006. See the photo gallery. Players were: (front row – left to right) Sara Starros, Kelly Schlingensiepen, Margot Jacobs, Rachel Hamer  (back row  – left to right) Stevie Foulks, Lauren Feuerborn, Jenna Paulson, and Julie Mizraji.

.

Although the Bobcats won the high school league championship, only half of the Bobcat girls were actually in high school  (9th graders);   the rest were in middle school.

.

The Bobcats (named by Rachel Hamer) played in the high school division of the Ventura Super League and completed an undefeated season with a 46-24 win in the championship final game at Ventura College on March 7, 2006.

.

The team then went on to play in the open (unlimited) high school junior varsity division of several tournaments and despite being primarily a middle school team, the Bobcats finished third in two tournaments and second in two others.  Along the way, the Bobcats posted a 61-43 win over the San Pedro High School jv team at Rio Mesa High School in April 2006.

.

The Bobcats were a special group of tightly united friends and parents and it is the only team in Wildcat organization history to have brand new uniforms retired after just four months of play.  No team in the organization has since carried the Bobcat name.
